Treasuring the early days

2–4 Hour sessions

These sessions are my favorite. I love newborns’ little
tummies, wispy hair and tiny fingers and toes’. The best time to do these
photographs is when your baby is 5 – 8 days old. This is because they are still
quite ‘pliable’, they generally sleep a lot, and colic and baby acne have not
yet set in. I try to be a little more ‘flexible’ with the dates of these shoots
as things don’t always go according ‘to plan’. I generally book them for 5 days
after your due date and change them if necessary, babies seldom come when they
are expected.

These sessions are generally a little longer as we have to work
at your newborn’s pace.They average between 2– 4 hours. We need to allow time
for feeding, changing and cuddling.

New parents can also be tired and a bit
sore so I don’t want to rush things. These are lovely, gentle sessions and
really special shoots, I highly encourage them. These sessions should be booked
as early as possible after your 20 week scan, this will ensure your booking and
assist me in managing the diary. If however your baby is due fairly soon or
already born feel free to call me, I may be able to fit you in. I do this in
order to offer my clients the best service possible and because I shoot a lot
of newborns and it can be ‘unpredictable’, with me having to move things around
a little each week; I only allow limited number of sessions per week.

To avoid disappointment it is best to book as early as possible.

Booking In​

Most people book in after their 12 week scan- this is to ensure you don’t miss out as I book up well in advance. I can, on occasion however squeeze in last minute bookings so if your baby has arrived or is close to arriving please do get in contact and I may be able to fit you in!

I book babies in for around 2 weeks after their due dates. As we know, babies aren’t the best time keepers and do things their own way, so if you find you’ve had an early surprise or if your little one is keeping you waiting then I always leave wiggle room in the diary in case we need to move your session.

The non refundable session fee is required upon booking. The session fee does not include any images or products- this covers the shoot itself and the post processing of your images.

Please note I cannot secure your provisional session slot until this has cleared. Once your session is confirmed, I send over all pre session info and a questionnaire to help personalise your session to meet your individual needs. I am also happy to chat through any queries or requests before the session.

The Session

All photography shoots take place in my home studio which is in Cambridge , New Zealand. Tea and coffee are supplied throughout the session but I would advise you to bring a snack in case you get peckish during the shoot.

My sessions are completely baby led. Some babies prefer things one way, some prefer things a different way, and because of that no two shoots are ever the same. I only book one session a day to ensure we are not rushed and gives us plenty of time for baby to feed and settle.

After Your Session

After your session, I professionally hand edit your images to the highest standard. You will then be able to view your images and decide on your chosen selection. I strongly believe that professional imagery deserves a place on the wall- all too often they end up stuck in digital form on computer hard drives or on USBs at the back of a draw. I believe we should print what we want to preserve, and because of that I offer a wide range of products so that the most important thing in your world can be put up proudly on display in your homes. During the viewing and ordering session you will get to see all your images in a beautiful visual display and all images you choose can be downloaded through a link.
